Welcome to the Pixel Mechanics playtesting process! This guide is designed to help you understand what to expect and how to contribute effectively to our testing efforts. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer, a student learning about game development, or just like playtesting new games, your feedback is crucial in shaping and refining titles in development.
Game Introduction
Before you start, you’ll receive a brief overview of the game you’ll be testing. This will include its objectives, mechanics, and any specific features we want you to focus on. Take note of the game’s goals and the elements that are still in development.
Setup
Pixel Mechanics offers two ways participants can playtest: Remote or On-Site in one of our playtesting labs. For Remote playtesting, ensure you have the necessary equipment and access required for playtesting. This might include installing software or accessing a specific build of the game. Detailed instructions will be provided to help you get started. For On-Site testing, we got you covered on the setup!
Play the Game
Dive into the gameplay! Sometimes, you’ll play through a game as you normally would any other game. Other times, we may guide you to reach specific goals, test certain mechanics, or play specific levels on various difficulties. As you play, you may be asked to document your observations and any issues you encounter. This could be anything from bugs and glitches to balancing issues or confusing mechanics.
Feedback
After your playtest, we’ll gather your valuable feedback through the use of questionnaires and conduct a brief interview regarding your playtest. We encourage you to be as detailed and as honest as possible to help us understand the context of your experience with the game!
